Graduates of the Master’s Degree in Econometrics at Universidad de Las Américas are competent professional, with critical thinking and quantitative reasoning who are capable of leading in the field of Econometrics. Graduates are skilled professional who identify economic models to predict the global economic environment, as well as make business decisions according to the analysis and evaluation of variables. Graduates combine the micro and macro vision of the economy in the public and private spheres, with a global perspective and civic responsibility.
Graduates integrate theoretical foundations and advanced tools of microeconomic analysis to strengthen decision making within public or private financial entities. They elaborate econometric models based on the aggregate behavior of agents to evaluate the effects of economic policy and develop statistical and econometric analysis tools for both theoretical and purely empirical application. Additionally, they apply statistical and econometric techniques for analysis in specialized areas of the economy such as education, health, finance, environment and innovation. And finally, the graduate of this master’s program works in the field of research, developing empirical work in the economic and financial fields, contributing with their knowledge and skills to the solution of problems.
It is expected that the graduate of the Master’s Degree in Econometrics performs in an ethical, responsible and honest manner. It is expected that the graduate will lead the modeling and econometric development processes, demonstrating commitment to society in the public, private, local and global spheres. Finally, the graduate is expected to be committed to continuing education to remain at the forefront of economic issues.
Program enrollment: Program headcount totals the number of students enrolled yearly.
Graduation rate: is calculated through the 2020-2021 academic year, based on new, first-time students entering in the fall semester, regardless of whether they enroll in the daytime or evening version of their program (if available). These rates do not consider incoming transfer students.
In every semester, the program provides assessment results according to its Multiannual Assessment Plan (MAP), which typically considers one or more of its program learning outcomes (PLOs). Most programs utilize the platform Brightspace to collect and assess student work and to present the data and evidence of student achievement. These results and their analysis, with the objective of identifying areas for improvement, are presented in the program’s annual assessment report. In the graphic below, the most recent period in which a PLO has been assessed is indicated, with the percentage indicating achievement of the expected performance standard for that PLO, according to the rubric used to evaluate the student work. This standard can be designated at an introductory, intermediate, or final level, depending upon how the course learning outcomes (CLOs) align to each PLO in the program’s curriculum map.
